A wonderful Summer lunch.
Hello Sweet Summer Strawberries,
The local strawberry season is slowing down. You can still find strawberries at the Farmer’s Market and they are super tasty but they won’t be there for long.
Here are four ideas on how to use your strawberries:
Enjoy them whole
1. Eat them whole
Just give them a rinse and off you go.
Who need Jam? Fresh strawberries with Almond Butter on a rice cake
2. Use them instead of jam
Who needs jam when you can have fresh Ontario strawberries. This breakfast or snack is super simple – just spread almond butter on a rice cake and then add sliced strawberries. And it is gluten-free and sugar-free too.
Strawberry Spinach and Dill Salad
3. Add them to a salad
This salad is spinach and sliced strawberries with a small amount of dill drizzled with a dressing of olive oil, organic apple cider vinegar and seedy mustard. A perfect early summer lunch.
4. Freeze them
Yes, eating your strawberries right away is more fun but you will have them later – and they really do taste great in the cold dark days of winter (yikes – think summer please Jo-Ann).
Is your mouth watering yet? Time to head down to the Farmer’s Market or local store that carries Ontario Strawberries and make them part of your meals this week.
Get you Ontario Strawberries before they are gone
You can never have too many strawberries and if you do, see option 4.
