Hello Good Food,
Ever wondered about the soil that creates your food? Tonight, after battling Toronto Traffic, the hubby and I made it just in time to the Canadian Premiere of Symphony of the Soil – a great documentary film that showcases how soil ages, contains minerals and nutrients that help to grow our food supply, our forests, our grasslands and the ecosystem that results out of healthy environments. The feature film is a documentary that uses beautiful images of land masses around the globe, soil beginnings and ancient soil views as well are using watercolour images to tell stories as a great way to help us understand the importance of keeping our soil healthy.
One of the important ways to ensure the stewardship of the land is to have more organic farming techniques. Organic farming replenishes the soil with organic matter which not only provides more nutrients and minerals for micro-organisms to live it, it gives nutrient rich crops and in drought conditions enables the soil to hold more moisture.

On Saturday, Feb 16, I will be enjoying to the Canadian Organic Growers Conference with a good friend. We attended last year after I read “The Dirty Life, A Memoir of Farming, Food and Love” by Kristin Kimball as Kristin was one of the keynote speakers and I wanted to hear more about her story. We totally enjoyed the day last year as all the speakers were great and the food was amazing as well.
I will provide an update on the conference in the coming week.
